Flexible, highly available block storage can be used for almost any kind of application, including database storage, virtualization volumes, and more. Block storage requires a server and can be connected using Fibre Channel or iSCSI protocols.

Requirements

A server that can be connected to our storage using Fibre Channel or iSCSI
A valid DoIT Number
Must have an IT admin for storage management
Must be a UW–‍Madison department and/or employee

Getting started

Options

Fibre Channel – Block storage available to your server if it is located in one of DoIT’s Data Centers via Fibre Channel SAN connections.
Network Attached (iSCSI) – IP network-based block storage that resides in the Campus Data Center but can be accessed by your server in other campus location.

Fibre Channel Block Storage SAN Fee: $1431.86 per year

iSCSI: iSCSI storage is available for Tier 2 and Tier 3. There is no SAN fee for iSCSI connections.

Billing Note: Billing is based on the price/GB/year. We will bill your DoIT Number monthly based on your usage.
